Web developer for Kežmarok
Web design Kežmarok: a website for a town guests visit all year
For guesthouses, craftspeople and service businesses in Kežmarok I build websites that convince a local customer and a foreign guest alike. Based in Poprad, 19 years of experience, €40 per hour including VAT.
Kežmarok is a historic town below the Tatras whose visitor traffic is spread across the whole year rather than squeezed into a single season. The castle, the burgher houses, the wooden church on the world heritage list and a regular programme of cultural events bring people here even in the months when the mountain resorts are quiet. For local businesses that means steadier demand than a purely seasonal location enjoys, and also a higher bar for the first impression. A guest usually chooses accommodation the evening before travelling, on a phone, comparing three or four websites side by side. Photographs, a legible price, the location and whether a booking can be finished without a phone call decide the outcome.
I am a freelance web developer with 19 years of experience, based in Poprad, which is about twenty minutes by car, so meeting in person is never a complication. Over those years I have built accommodation websites, multilingual sites, booking forms, e-shops and connections to external systems. Every brief starts with the same question: what should the visitor do on this page, and what currently stops them. The answer shapes the structure long before anything is designed. You communicate directly with me, with no sales layer and no account manager in between, so a technical question gets an answer the same day. My rate is €40 per hour including VAT and the scope is agreed in writing up front.

A website for a guesthouse, apartment or private rooms
Accommodation is sold through images and reassurance. The site needs large, well shot and fast loading photographs of the rooms, the shared spaces and the surroundings, a price list that reflects the season, and answers to the questions guests genuinely ask: parking, breakfast, the walk into the centre, late arrival, pets, wifi. I never bury those details in a long paragraph. They belong in a structure a guest can scan in a few seconds. The content is then set up so you can change prices, availability notes or seasonal announcements yourself, without writing to a developer every time.
- A photo gallery that does not slow the page down
- Prices and conditions without hunting
- Content you can edit without a developer

A booking a guest can finish on a phone
The most common loss is a guest who has already decided but never completes the booking. Depending on the size of the operation I build either a simple form with an email confirmation, or a calendar with capacity, a deposit and an automatic reminder before arrival. If you already use an external booking platform, I connect the website to it so the visitor is not thrown between two interfaces that look nothing alike. The details that matter only show up in daily operation: blocking taken dates, minimum stays, cancellation terms written in plain language and an overview of bookings that opens properly on a phone.
- A form or a calendar with capacity
- Connection to an existing booking system
- Confirmations and reminders sent automatically

Multilingual for foreign guests
Visitors arrive in Kežmarok from Poland, Czechia, Germany and further afield, and most of them decide in the language they actually read. I build multilingual websites with a clean URL structure, independent language versions and correct markers for search engines, so each version ranks on its own instead of competing with the others. Translation is handled pragmatically: first the pages that genuinely decide a booking, meaning rooms, prices and availability, with the rest following gradually. Managing several languages stays simple, so updating a price list never turns into a small project of its own.
- Slovak, English, Polish and German as needed
- Each language version indexed separately
- Translate first where it decides a booking

Local trust and visibility nearby
In a smaller town reputation carries more weight than an advertising budget. The website should support that trust rather than try to replace it with promises. Consistent business details across the site, the map listing and social profiles help, as do real photographs instead of stock images, references from people in the area, and a contact page that makes clear who stands behind the business. Technically that means correct structured data about the business, a link to the map listing and to reviews where they make sense. I do not repeat the town name in every sentence, an approach search engines stopped rewarding many years ago.
- The same details on the site, map and profiles
- Real photographs instead of stock images
- Natural local context rather than keyword stuffing

What it costs and how we work
My rate is €40 per hour including VAT, and the price depends on the scope of work rather than on the town. A smaller accommodation website usually fits within 7 to 15 hours, while multilingual versions and booking features increase it. Before we start you receive a written list of deliverables and an hour interval, so you know exactly what you are paying for. During development I show working previews, so significant feedback does not arrive the day before launch. Before handover I check the booking forms, the language versions, the links and mobile speed. After launch I can continue with maintenance of 5 to 20 hours a month, or handle small fixes in 1 to 3 hours.

Common questions about websites in Kežmarok
What does a website for accommodation in Kežmarok cost?
A smaller guesthouse or apartment presentation usually fits within 7 to 15 hours at €40 per hour including VAT. Multilingual versions and a booking module increase the scope. You receive a written estimate before work begins.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. Kežmarok is a short drive from Poprad, and a meeting at the start of a project often saves a great deal of writing. Everyday collaboration then runs online, with direct contact with me rather than an account manager.
Can the website be in English and Polish as well?
Yes. I build multilingual websites so that each version works in search engines on its own and the content can be updated without a developer. We start with the languages that actually bring you guests.
Can I change prices and availability myself?
Yes, and that is a standard part of the brief. Anything that changes during the year is prepared so it can be edited from a clear interface in a couple of minutes, with no risk of breaking the layout of the page.
Would you take over the website we already have?
Yes. I first review the technical state, speed, updates and risks, then propose fixes in order of priority. I recommend a new website only when repairing the existing one no longer makes economic sense.
