A website shaped by its goal
What should a custom website cost for your specific business goal?
I design the structure, components and technical foundation around your audience and content. A smaller website has a clear starting range and room for responsible future change.
A custom website does not mean inventing every button again. It means the project is not shaped by the arbitrary limitations of a purchased theme. Information architecture, visual language, components and editing tools follow the offer and the way visitors make a decision. The result can be a compact company site with a handful of focused pages rather than an expensive application. What matters is that each element has a purpose, unused features do not burden delivery, and new content can be introduced without pulling the design apart. Custom work is about fit and ownership, not complexity for its own sake.
I have developed websites for 19 years across frontend engineering, PHP, WordPress, WooCommerce and Laravel. That range keeps my attention on life after the initial release: who updates content, how the project is deployed, what needs measuring and which future ideas are genuinely likely. I am based in Poprad, Slovakia, and work remote-first with clients regardless of location. You communicate directly with me. When an established system is the lower-risk answer, I say so. When a generic theme creates future cost, I explain the mechanism rather than relying on a preference for custom code.
01
Custom website pricing without vague packages
A smaller custom website usually represents 7 to 15 hours at €40 per hour including VAT. That can include information structure, responsive implementation, placement of prepared content, an enquiry path and launch. More unique page types, copy preparation, migration, languages or external connections add effort. The estimate records its assumptions so you can compare offers by their delivered outcome. A low headline figure without a list of responsibilities is not necessarily a saving. It may simply leave design, content and deployment risk for the client to discover later.
- Typical range of 7 to 15 hours
- €40 per hour including VAT
- Scope and assumptions before development
02
Structure begins with customer questions
Before designing screens, I identify the intended visitor and what they need to know before contacting you. The home page does not need to carry every argument. Focused service pages can answer specific intent, while internal links present the next useful option. Headings make a readable outline, copy handles real objections and calls to action reflect the visitor's decision stage. This helps people and search engines because meaning is not hidden inside images or broad slogans. The visual system can then express the brand while reinforcing a hierarchy that already has a reason.
- An audience and objective for each page
- Readable information hierarchy
- Natural internal connections
03
A technical foundation without unnecessary weight
I choose technology according to editing and behaviour. A static site can be extremely fast, WordPress gives editors a familiar platform and Laravel supports a unique application process. Components are responsive and semantic, with attention to keyboard use, contrast and layout stability. I verify metadata, canonical URLs, sharing previews and indexable HTML output. Performance is not a plugin installed at the end. Decisions about images, fonts, scripts and data happen during implementation, when their cost can be understood and reduced without sacrificing the intended experience.
- Technology proportionate to the task
- Responsive semantic components
- SEO output verified in generated HTML
04
Content remains under your control
Custom must not mean asking a developer to change every sentence. Where content moves frequently, I create editorial fields and components with understandable limits. The team can add services, articles and relevant case material without copying fragile formatting. For a very small site with rare updates, a simpler code-based workflow may be more economical than maintaining an administration system. I explain the choice using update frequency, team capability and operational budget. Credentials, source files and meaningful documentation stay with the client, leaving genuine options for future support.
- Editing matched to actual frequency
- Reusable content components
- Client ownership of source and access
05
A clear delivery path and support after launch
We begin with a focused conversation and the available material. I record scope, open questions, estimated hours and likely timing. Larger work is divided into previews so feedback applies to a functioning result while change remains inexpensive. Before launch I check links, forms, mobile layouts, metadata and, where relevant, measurement. After handover I can provide small changes, updates or a monthly support block. The website can follow the business offer without every iteration starting with another supplier search and a fresh explanation of decisions already-made.
- A written estimate
- Reviewable working previews
- Optional care after launch

Common custom website questions
How much does a custom website cost?
A smaller site typically requires 7 to 15 hours at €40 per hour including VAT. Unique page types, content, languages and integrations affect the exact price. You receive assumptions and scope before implementation.
How long does a custom website take to build?
With prepared content, a compact website can be completed in several working days. Review time, language variants and external systems extend the schedule. We agree timing together with the scope.
What is the difference between custom design and a theme?
Custom design creates structure and components for your actual content. A ready-made theme offers predetermined options for many unrelated sites. The practical differences are fit, performance and the cost of future changes.
Will I be able to edit the website myself?
Yes, when regular editing is part of the brief. I can provide WordPress or another appropriate interface with clear fields. For a tiny, rarely changed site, we can compare whether that administration cost is justified.
Does custom website development include SEO?
It includes the technical foundation: semantic structure, metadata, canonical URLs, mobile use, performance and indexable output. Sustained search growth also depends on useful content, market authority, competition and the strength of the offer.
